From Mistake to Melon

Good Fortune Lies Ahead

Okay, so I made a mistake.

Last night before going to bed I took a quick look at my calendar and saw that I had to be in St. Charles County Municipal Court at 10:00 a.m. It was for a man who had five various traffic violations all growing out of one incident. Actually, that is not unusual.

It takes about 15 minutes to get from my home office to this particular courthouse. But I insist on being everywhere a little bit early. Well, I arrived not just a little bit early. It turns out I was an hour early. What’s a guy to do?

Why Not Explore?

I didn’t want to drive home just to turn around and drive back. So I decided to go explore.

I drove south for about a mile and I came upon a place called Orlando’s Produce. It is an open-air market that I have been to before. Since I always enjoy seeing what I might pick up for dinner. I stopped.

Cantaloupe

Now I don’t know how you feel about cantaloupe. A good cantaloupe is a wonderful thing. But it has to be a really good cantaloupe before I like it.

To my delight they had Missouri grown cantaloupes. If you have never had a Missouri cantaloupe you are missing out. They are sweet and juice and are, in my opinion the best cantaloupes ever.

It didn’t take long to find the one I wanted. I checked out and could not wait to get it home and open it up.

I still had some time to kill so I went to the local Waffle House, had breakfast and headed back to court. That took about half an hour and I was headed home.

Time for the Prize

This cantaloupe turned out to be a true prize. It’s funny how unexpected delays can turn out to be real blessings. Let me recommend you try and find a Missouri cantaloupe and let me know if you think I am right.
